CKC Patterns for the Win

Hey Loves! I'm excited to share this dress with you.  I tried Creative Kids Couture patterns a few years ago for a kid's blazer .  It turned out great.  So, when I went searching for a plus sized mermaid pattern and CKC popped up in the search, I decided to give it a try.  I was not let down. CKC Patterns Faryn Fabric from Joann Fabrics The entire dress is lined except for the sleeves.  I had to add an extra 3 inches to the end of the dress body.  My friend asked me to make a deep cold shoulder and bell to the sleeves.  I also opted to not add a band to the neckline.  I prefer to just attach the lining at the neckline and understitching the facing to the lining. She loved it.  Her smile shows it. Red Carpet with M6886

Hey loves! My prom season is over! Whew! While others are just getting started, I've wrapped it up just in time to submit this beauty in that 2018 Red Carpet Contest. Let me just tell you this young lady was shining.  She wanted her dress to sparkle and it did.    I used my TNT pattern McCall's 6886 to get started.  I've found so many uses for that pattern.  For the lining, I used Superflex Compression Performance Fabric-Black from JoAnn Fabrics.  Yes, compression fabric!  She didn't want to have to wear support garments.  Do you blame her?!  The compression fabric gives her support and keeps her dry so she can enjoy dancing all night! Winning! The outer layer was a glittery power mesh  from missnancy48 on Etsy. More support!
