Hey Loves!
This month I had the opportunity to create singe pieces for a few college friends. One was my site mate and the other is my SAI sister. These are friendships that haven't faded. :)
Well, the same is very true for them and their LBG (Ladies of Black and Gold) sisters. They do a girls' trip every year. They always do a photo shoot and have a good time. I was commissioned by them to make their pieces for the shoot in Jamaica. I'm glad to share these pieces with you.
They choose fabrics from TessWorldDesigns on Etsy. The fabric arrived quickly and was good weight and opacity.
I love these full maxi skirts because the design is simple but the right fabric will make it look absolutely amazing. I regret not adding pockets. If you're interested in making them, try this tutorial.
The dress is an old pattern from my stash. I last made it about 2 years ago. I ran across it while looking for something that for my suite mate's requirements: cute and cool - it's hot in Jamaica. I was initially looking at patterns with funky sleeves but sleeves are hot! I saw Simplicity 1100 and realized it was a perfect match. Her fabric had a vertical recurring print that I turned horizontal. I love the result. If you'd like to see my review of this pattern, here's a link.
Here are a few more pics:
Doesn't this inspire you to wanna take a girls' trip?! I know I do! I'll take any trip right now.
Until next time, smooches!
