Cook with Me: Quick Healthy Breakfast

Hey Loves!

Now that there are 2 little guys under 2 in my house, I'm looking for more efficient ways to do everything. Breakfast is no exception.  After oatmealing myself to death for breakfast, I wanted something else that gives similar nutritional value.

Today, I created a great smoothie.  I call it the Sunrise Smoothie!

Sunrise Smoothie

To make it, blend together:

  • PiƱa Colada yogurt
  • Oatmeal
  • Almond milk
  • Frozen mango cubes
  • Frozen peaches

Optional ingredients:

The oatmeal and almond milk are good for breast feeding moms.

Soon, I'll be back working on my body. I'd love for you to join me on this journey.  I'll be posting a before picture after my 6 week appointment. So, check back for more on my journey.

Document your journey and follow me. Post your workout and nutrition tips on Facebook and Instagram using hash tag #wegetfittogether. Like my Facebook page and follow me on Instagram.

Until next time l loves,  smooches!

Hey Loves!

Don't let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don't like them. Stacy London

I've wanted to do a fashion show for a few years.  I've constantly asked myself who would come.  I've said I don't have time.  I've doubted my ability to come up with enough designs, but my circle kept saying you can do it.  I never did!

A couple of weeks back, I was asked to collaborate on a fashion show.  For a second, I said no in my mind.  But my heart spoke up loud and clear and I agreed.  I'm so glad I did.

Today, on the first day of fall (the season when all things shed in preparation for new life), 2 of my designs were showcased in a fashion show.  Baby, they shined (literally and figuratively)!  I'm so grateful for the opportunity! Who would have thought 2 AME church girls would link up years later to make some black girl magic?!  She brought the sty…

Congratulations Are In Order, Part 1: DIY Wedding Gift

This past weekend my big little guy was in a wedding. I love weddings so I was very excited. The four of us (and all the bags) piled in the Tahoe for the road trip. It was quite the adventure, but it was worth every minute.

Back to what you came here for the DIY project.

One night while searching Pinterest, I found this really cool print:
I thought it would be a great gift for a couple.  I even thought it would be for my bedroom (I'm seriously considering making one for us).  So, when I was thinking of the perfect gift for this wedding, my mind immediately went back to this idea.

I thought about how I could make this idea my own.  I came up with this: I took this before I decided to add the year they were married to the center top.

Here's what I used: Frame & Mat:  I was prepared to make my own mat, but I found a frame that included the perfect mat  for 3 5" by 7" prints at Ross.Map: You can buy an atlas or map.  OR You can do like me.  I used Google maps t…

NL 6519: I Knew It From the Start

Hey Loves!

I'm back.  It's been a minute!  I've been busy! But, I took a quick break to make something for me.

I saw the cutest yellow and black polka dot fabric in Wal-Mart on clearance (2 yards for $1.87).  When I saw it, I immediately thought about New Look A6519.  It's just one of those patterns I pick up often and put it back because the fabric isn't quite right.  Well, this was the one.

I got home and printed one of the croquis from Golden Rippy.  I took a few minutes to sketch it out.  I enjoyed it so much! After sketching, I knew jeans would be perfect.

Each time I try a new pattern, I have to read the directions thoroughly...usually 2 or 3 times before I start.  After reading the directions, I got to work.  The directions were so straight to the point and easy to follow.  I decided this pattern was perfect for practicing French seams and I was too lazy to rethread my serger! Don't judge me!  Next to my serger, French seams are my favorite.  Once I got …
