S1605: Little Boys Are Heroes in Disguise

Hey Loves! I'm back after a little break to spend time with family.   I thoroughly loved it. I sewed a few gifts during the break.  I'll share them in a few days. This post is about the cutest little t-shirt for my middle guy.  He loves when I make him things. He brags to his friends!  It makes me feel so good! Simplicity 1605 So my middle guy is growing like a weed! He's shooting up not out.  His long-sleeve shirts fit his body but not his arms. Lucky for us, we have another shooting up right behind him and I have some knit scraps.  I've found my larger knit scraps are perfect for making shirts for my little guys. For the sleeve and neckband contrast, I used a scrap piece from a cute project I hope to share soon.  The body of the shirt is a knit fabric I bought in a 2 yards for $2 package from Wal-Mart.  Can I tell you how much those precut packages have changed my Wal-Mart fabric shopping experience?! Sharing the Gift

Hey Loves! Do you have a gift or talent that your wondering about how it's supposed to be used?  Then, you're not alone. For a while, I struggled with how to use my sewing gift.  One day while reading, I ran across this scripture: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 NIV  It immediately made me think about Shundra Powe Davis and Hands That Give .  Our gifts are meant to be used to bless others. Each year Shundra chooses a charity and asks the sewing community for handmade items for the charity. I missed the opportunity to participate last year, but wasn't going to miss it this year.  This year we were asked to sew items for children in a group home. Here's my contribution: Shorts Pattern Made Everyday with Dana Pattern Review Shirt Pattern Life Sew Savory Pattern Review I had sew much fun searching for patterns fo...

First Day Ready: Always Have a Plan B

Hey Loves! It's been a while. I've been busy getting my boys ready for school to start and studying for a certification. So, I haven't been very active on the blog or on social media, but I couldn't let today pass without sharing this cute little shirt that I made for my middle guy's first day of school. I made it using Siser vinyl & a thrifted Cricut Expression I purchased from Salvation Army for about $40. It came with 3 cartridges which initially I was a little bummed about but I'm so glad that I have those cartridges now.  I ran into a couple of issues while trying to create the shirt: I broke the power cord for my laptop so I couldn't use the software that I normally use to create images for the Cricut. Who breaks the power cord?!  ME, of course! There was no orange vinyl in the store for the basketball. The only orange vinyl was glitter and that just won't work for a boy. I decided to use blue (What boy doesn't like blue?!) to cr...
