Hi Loves! If you didn't know, I love prints!  Like, I really, really like prints.  This one from Fabric Mart  is one of my favorites.  It's an ITY knit in an ethnic print. Normally, I would have made a dress. This time, I decided to do something a little different.  I see these wardrobe patterns all the time.  Sometimes, I think that's old ladyish.  Other times, I'm like it would be cool to have a few coordinating pieces.  Well, I saw See N Sew B6368 and decided it would be a good one for me try with a printed knit. Hey Loves! I attended a roaring 20s party.  Here's all about how my costume came together. I received an invite to a roaring 20s themed birthday party. I immediately thought about making a flapper dress.   I checked out Pinterest ands saw a lot of sequins and a lot of fringe.  All you of you that dabble in sewing know that those things can be expensive.   I also hate sewing sequins! I saw this pic and thought this is totally doable.  I was going to make the dress,  but I just didn't feel like it.   So my hubby digested I go buy something.   He even came along.   I'm glad he did because he found the perfect dress hiding on a sale rack for $5 in Rainbow .  You know I love a deal.  I wish I had taken pics of the back. Hey Loves! I'm back work another inexpensive outfit.   Warming is not the $50 steal from last week.  If not for the cost of the shoes, this outfit would be under $50 too. Hey Loves! So, you guys know I love to sew.   But, I also really love to bargain shop.  I get really excited when I find really cute items that I know I'll wear multiple times at really great price.   So, I thought I'd share some of those fun finds with you. Here's a recent find from Simply 10 : a mauve pleated skirt. If you're not familiar with the store, most of the items are less than $10.  I find some really cool things in there. This particular skirt was on clearance for $2. Yay!  Plus, it was the only one and it was my size! Winning! Self Drafted Midi Pencil Skirt Hey Loves! It's Fri-Yay! Flashback Friday! I'm excited to share of my favorite makes.  It's simple but full of pop: self-draft day scuba knit midi pencil skirt! That fabric was love at first site!  I couldn't leave Hancock without it!  Ugh, I miss that store!  Anyway, so much for my memory lane sadness. It was my first time using scuba knit.  I was scared to touch it because it was so pretty.   I decided to make something simple so the print and fit could do all the talking.   I loved not having to hem it because most knits don't unravel and like woven fabrics. I ended up with this skirt that I love!  The fabric is pretty.   It fits me like a glove, even after having another little guy.   The fabric is very forgiving.   I don't feel naked because of the length.   And my son isn't going on and on because it's too short.  It's sew my style! Hey Loves! I'm so happy to be here to say good riddance to 2016!  I am sooo happy to see 2016 gone. I don't know about you but 2016 has been quite the year.  I've learned a lot of lessons: Even your best plans can fail. Your victory can be a complete failure to someone else. In my weakness, I am strongest. Don't get distracted from your goals. In every failure, there is a victory. The last half of 2016 has been so rough, but it's over and I'm better because of it. Don't get me wrong. There were victories in 2016, but I'm not gonna look back on them. I'm going to focus on my plans for 2017. Hi Loves! In honor of throw back Thursday,  I am posting one of my favorite projects from my first year of sewing. I still wear it alot and always seem to get a few compliments on it.   It's one of those projects that lets the fabric print be the focal point. It takes less than 30 minutes to make but looks absolutely adorable. Here are the directions • fold 1.5 yards of fabric in half lengthwise, right sides facing • pin short sides 10" from the top to the bottom • leave gap open • sew pinned areas, back stitch the beginning and end • hem all the loose ends if you'd like It's all done and ready to wear. I'm not sure of the proper name: shrug, cocoon, cardigan, wrap, cape... I've heard so many different names.   So here is my creation that falls under one of those titles. What do you think? Hi Loves! Today,  I wore  a modge podge of stuff from my closet.   It came together though. I'm grateful. Here's what I'm grateful for: Fitting clothes in my closet.   After have 3 c-sections my body didn't decide to fully give up on me.  It's not bouncing back like last time but there's still some fight in there.  The Internet!   When I'm stomped on what to wear or make,  I can find inspiration on the Internet.  Those that wear military green in service to our country .  I have family and friends who serve or have served our country.  Thanks for what you do it's not an easy job and often a major sacrifice for your entire family. Check me out 6 weeks after Baby Z.  I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans.  I was very excited because this happened without exercise.  Now, the hard work has to begin - squat challenge, ab challenge, and 5k training program are in full effect. Maybe I'll post this same outfit again after I have toned up and lost a few more pounds.
