Hey Loves, I did a thing! I mixed prints! I'm so excited to share it with you. Here's a little background on the fabric. I won this rayon challis fabric from Sly Fox Fabrics a little over a year ago. Sly Fox has some really cute prints. They also do a great job of curating their fabrics. They also have a collection of prints they have paired. The fabric quality is really good. Check them out. I needed a dress to wear to  Freedom Fest 2019 in Birmingham, AL .  I searched Pinterest for festival attire.  A lot of little shorts and even small tops showed up.  Sprinkled in between were a few cute maxi dresses that had mixed prints.  I remembered I had this fabric. Then, I remembered I had Simplicity 8635.  I thought this will work.  If not, I'll make it work. LOL Thankfully, it turned out great. S8635 was very easy to construct. Hey Loves, It's just me coming through another one of my faves! LOL Every thing is my favorite! In October,  Kelli of @truebias and Heather Lou of @closetcase.patterns introduced a new challenge #sewfrosting, The challenge encouraged us to sew fun, frivolous items.  At first, I was thinking skirts and dresses and really girlie stuff. Then, I saw this cute flannel duster a mom made for her daughter in one of the Facebook sewing groups. I thought I can do something really extra with this idea. I tried to do that using Simplicity A8581.  I styled it two ways to show even #sewfrosting can be an essential part of your wardrobe.  Day Look Night Look The next time you see that piece that doesn't quite fit your wardrobe but you really want it anyway,  buy it!  If you want to sew a fancy dress,  but have no where to wear it, sew it anyway! Hey Loves, I grew months ago I ordered the infamous ZOZO suit.  I left it sitting because I hoped I'd lose some weight.  Well, guess what I didn't.  Who looses weight over the holidays? Who was I kidding? Well, I was about to start my first project of 2019.  I thought to myself, "Wait wait wait! Get in that suit and get your measurements." I did it and I'm glad I did.  Do I look amazing? Heck no!  But, I love the technology behind this. Set up wasn't a walk in the park.  There's a tutorial that walls you through the pepper way to wear the suit and stand. It took 5 different table heights in 2 different rooms to get it to work. It told me the lighting was bad or too good and I was too close or too far away. Once I was in the perfect position, it worked like a charm. Turn around in a circle and it takes all the measurements. I was impressed by the results. The measurements are very similar (off by about .25" to .5") to those I've taken ...

I haven't written much in a while.  I've been kinda ghost on all my social media accounts.  I've needed this time to be private...to just be quiet.  I've spent a lot of days admiring the work of other sewcialists.  Honey, this may be a group of some of the most talented and inspiring people I've ever encountered.  I'm so serious.  I mean they really rock. Hey Loves! I'm excited about this post!  I love getting dressed up!  When I think about getting dressed up, I always think of dresses, pretty hair, and a little makeup! When my hubby announced on a Monday that he was going to be in a wedding that Friday, I immediately thought about making a dress.  I consulted my favorite guy on what I should wear. A fitted dress like C & D would have left me self conscious and trying to cover up all day. I'm excited to share this dress with you.  I tried Creative Kids Couture patterns a few years ago for a kid's blazer .  It turned out great.  So, when I went searching for a plus sized mermaid pattern and CKC popped up in the search, I decided to give it a try.  I was not let down. CKC Patterns Faryn Fabric from Joann Fabrics The entire dress is lined except for the sleeves.  I had to add an extra 3 inches to the end of the dress body.  My friend asked me to make a deep cold shoulder and bell to the sleeves.  I also opted to not add a band to the neckline.  I prefer to just attach the lining at the neckline and understitching the facing to the lining.
