Sew with Me: It's the Simple Things

Hey Loves! Mondays are rough for me.   Hmmph Everyday is rough.  Getting everyone out the door and making it to work is a struggle.  I'm tired when I get to work and the day hasn't even started.  So it's the quick and simple projects that make me really happy.   Today's post is about this simple skirt that anyone can make.   It takes about 30 min.  I've also worn it as a dress. With the right complementary pieces, it rocks.   If you want to make your own, here's a tutorial . I love this quick simple wardrobe staple with lots of possibilities. Today's pic shows how I recently styled it. What's your favorite simple piece?  How do you style it? Until next time, Smooches! DJ

Sew with Me: Sunday Best

Hi Loves! First, let me say I missed you guys for the past 2 weeks.  Second, soon I'll have pics of the craft room.  I'm working on some fun stuff for that room. Third, last week's sew project was so fun. I saw this pattern review a few months ago and thought I've got to get this pattern.  So, when McCall's patterns went on sale at Hancock Fabrics, I bought it.  I figured I'd have somewhere to wear it one day.  And soon after my opportunity came.  When my church's  Bishop announce our general conference was coming up soon, I knew it was the perfect event. The conference colors were red and white and I had nothing in my stash that was knit and red.  So, to the fabric store I went. I was lucky to find the perfect fabric in Hancock.  It was originally $19.99/yard.  I got it for less than $10/yard. I left out of there feeling like WINNER!  Little did I know, I would really be winning when I finished the dress.  It took me a total of 6 hours over 3 days to

OOTD: TBT, One of My Favs

Hi Loves! In honor of throw back Thursday,  I am posting one of my favorite projects from my first year of sewing. I still wear it alot and always seem to get a few compliments on it.   It's one of those projects that lets the fabric print be the focal point. It takes less than 30 minutes to make but looks absolutely adorable. Here are the directions • fold 1.5 yards of fabric in half lengthwise, right sides facing • pin short sides 10" from the top to the bottom • leave gap open • sew pinned areas, back stitch the beginning and end • hem all the loose ends if you'd like It's all done and ready to wear. I'm not sure of the proper name: shrug, cocoon, cardigan, wrap, cape... I've heard so many different names.   So here is my creation that falls under one of those titles. What do you think? Until next time, smooches! DJ
