OOTD: Military Inspired

Hi Loves! Today,  I wore  a modge podge of stuff from my closet.   It came together though. I'm grateful. Here's what I'm grateful for: Fitting clothes in my closet.   After have 3 c-sections my body didn't decide to fully give up on me.  It's not bouncing back like last time but there's still some fight in there.  The Internet!   When I'm stomped on what to wear or make,  I can find inspiration on the Internet.  Those that wear military green in service to our country .  I have family and friends who serve or have served our country.  Thanks for what you do it's not an easy job and often a major sacrifice for your entire family. Sew with Me: Bringing Baby Home

Hi Loves! I'm late with last week's post. I wasn't able to make anything new for myself, but I plan to this week.  This week's post is dedicated to my baby boy. He's getting so big. Time is flying! I like a good surprise, but it took me a while to get accustomed to the idea of having a 3rd child. It took me a while to get excited.  It took me a while to be all in this time.  BUT, when I got it together, I was in full mommy mode and I made his going home outfit.  I love this little set.  It's cute and simple.  Most importantly,  I made it.  The little guy left the hospital in a blanket, a romper,  and cloth shoes made by mommy.  Welcome Home Baby #3 The little blanket is my favorite.   It has his initial in the pattern.  It was really easy to piece together.   I found the patterns for the shoes and romper on Pinterest. I was pleasantly surprised by how cute they were and how well they came together. The plaid fabric was from Hancock.

Sew with Me: Sassy Print Shorts

Hey Loves! This week a had a great surprise in the mail, All You magazine.  I would have never purchased a subscription to this magazine, but I'm glad it was offered when I made my last shoe purchase from JustFab .  The magazine is full of information of the modern mom.  I have read the two issues I received about 7 times. But, this post isn't about the magazine per se.  It's about the inspiration I received from the magazine. All You - Issue 7, July 2015 Cute, huh! I was so excited because I knew I had the perfect printed fabric for some really cute shorts.  I also had the perfect place to wear them, my nephew's 18th birthday party. It feels like only yesterday he was 10.   I looked through my patterns for a cute pair of shorts and decided on View C of Simplicity 1887. Fabric: From my stash; purchased at Hancock's - Pattern: Joann's After a lot of work, here's what I came up with. Glasses: Zenni Optical - Shirt: Old from Walmart - Shorts:

Sew with Me: Outside My Comfort Zone

Hey Loves! I have really enjoyed my time at home.  I have managed to squeeze in a few projects while I've been out with the boys. I'm going to miss my sweet and tough boys but I must go back to the money. Don't worry! I still plan to post at least one new thing a week.  That means I have to make me time, so I can get some projects done.  I think I can handle that. Like last week, this week's post is thanks to my hubby.  He likes the new drop crotch jumpsuits.  He sent me a pic and said you can do this.  I laughed because it was not really my style.  BUT, hey, my guy likes it.  So, I gave it a try. I looked at it for a few weeks trying to figure out how it is constructed.  I looked at a few in the store. I planned to draft my own pattern.  Then, a member of one of the sewing groups on Facebook posted a tutorial for a drop crotch jumpsuit. Winning! I see no need to recreate the wheel. I followed the tutorial and whipped this up with fabric from my stash in about 2 h

Sew with Me: One Versatile Piece

Hey Loves! I'm real big on having pieces that cam be mixed and matched to create lots of different looks.  If I can visualize at least 4 outfits from a piece, it's in. This goes for pieces I buy and pieces I sew. I was so excited while shopping for fabric, to find a pattern that has so much potential. Funny thing is I wasn't even there for a pattern. I was looking for fabric, but couldn't resist a sale on Simplicity patterns.  (Don't judge me...I'm building my pattern collection.) I saw this pattern and saw a swim cover up, dress,  and shirt, all in one piece. I couldn't leave it.  It spoke to me and I had to bring her home with me. Fast forward a few weeks.  The hubby is invited to a luau for 4th of July.  I saw my new friend Simplicity 1100 paired with one of old friends from the fabric stash for a perfect fit for the luau. 3 hours of tracing, cutting, and sewing later, I finished this rocking versatile piece. Sew with Me: InVest in Your Man

Hey Loves! Fashion isn't just for the ladies.  Men like to look good, too.  Honestly, I like a man that cares about the way he looks. So, I was extra excited about this project. It allows me to inVest in my hubby's wardrobe and keep him looking fresh. One of my hubby's favorite clothing items is a vest.  HONESTLY, I like to see him in them.  It's a close second to my favorite jeans and v-neck tee. I'm a simple girl.  He doesn't have to dress up to be sexy to me. So, for his birthday and Father's Day, I made him vests. To my surprise, they turned out great. I was sooooo nervous about it.  I had never sewn anything other than a tie and bow ties for him, but I bought the pattern. The rest is history. Here's the finished product: Two Variations of a Classic Men's Vest I used fabric and thread from my stash and buttons I bought from Wal-Mart.  My pattern was Simplicity 2346 .  I recreated View A with some modifications.  You can view my re
