Sharing Memories: Grandmother Bracelet

Hello Loves! Mother's Day just passed.  I love making gifts for family.  This Mother's Day crept up on me. I was stomped on a gift for my mother-in-law.  Friday, after work, I went to Hobby Lobby for inspiration.  As I strolled down the jewelry aisles, looking at all the charms, a light bulb went off.  I'll make a charm bracelet.  As I began to pick charms, the light grew brighter.  I can add something to represent each of her grandsons.  She has 5 grandsons. From that the bracelet was born.   It's really easy to make. Here's what you need: • Charms • Chain, cut to 7" • Jump rings, enough for each charm • Multi use jewelry making tool It was a great idea.  The bracelet is filled with different hears in varying metal finishes.  Each grandchild is represented by a lower cased initial and a stone very similar to their birthstone. Here it is.  What do you think? Smooches,

Product Review: L'Oreal Nail Lingerie & Polish

Hi Loves! This is not a paid review .   A good friend gave me a package of beauty products.  Let me just say my cup (or box) runneth over! I received lots of pretty gloss, eye shadow, nail polish, and nail art stickers.  I took a moment to try out the Créme de Mint polish and the nail art in Princess Sprinkles.  Pink and green is gorgeous.  I like the result.   I had to use about 4 coats of polish to get the desired color of green.  I let it dry then applied the nail art.  It was as simple as applying a sticker then filing off the excess.  Then, I applied a top coat. It turned out better than I expected. It's not perfect but it turned out great for a first free try.  Stay tuned for more color combos.  Please ignore my hands and feet.  I'm definitely not a hand or foot model.   Until next time, smooches!

Fun with the Kid: Creating a Terrarium

Hi loves! I have fallen in love with sewing but that's not my life.  I have three guys in my life that need my attention.  So I have to keep up my mommy and wife duties.   I live doing projects with my oldest son.  We may not see eye to eye on how it should be done but we always enjoy the process and the finished project.   Our last project was a terrarium.  We used the tutorial on Sprout Home ( http://www.sprouthome.com/terrariums-step-by-step/). We skipped step 2.  We didn't have charcoal.  Hopefully, it won't make a huge difference.   He loves it!  And frankly, so do I.  It has a perfect home in our sun room.   Until next time, smooches!

Too the Max: Maxi Dress with a Twist

Hi loves! I have challenged my self to make something for me every weekend.  I've had this thin stretch knit fabric for a while. I love the print but have had some trouble finding something to make with it. I saw a picture in a Facebook group of a maxi with the back out.  I thought that's perfect. So I got to work and an hour later I had this:       Here's how it all came together: Fold the fabric in half length wise. Folded one of my dresses in 1/2. Traced the dress matching the folds (added 1/4" for inseam). Cut out of the fabric. With right sides facing, sewed the shoulders and sides together. Folded unfinished garment in half.  From bottom to the desired height on one layer of fabric to create the back slit.  I eye balled the length, but you can measure or try it own and mark with chalk to get the right height for the slit. Still folded, altered the neckline.   Hem the neckline, armholes and hem. That quick it's all done.   This is

MAGAM Challenge - April Garment Complete - Wrap Skirt

Hi loves! A few weeks ago, I posted my plans for the MAGAM April item . I'm done.  The book is awesome!  It provides very detailed directions that create a very professional looking finish.  I recommend it to anyone who would like to improve sewing skills. I improvised a bit on the waistband.  Instead of buttons, I used a snap on the inside and a metal clasp on the outside.  I think it looks good. What do you think?       Smooches,
