Paint Chips to Wall Art

I'm really excited about this $1.00 wall art.  I think it looks really cute in Baby Z's nursery. On a lunch outing with coworkers, we stopped at Lowe's for a dremel tool. Yes, we went to Lowe's for lunch.  There are a lot of creative minds in our group.  We have to be to do our job.  Any who, I was still excited about finding out we were having another little boy.  So, I took a stroll down paint lane.  I was so overwhelmed with all the beautiful colors that I took a huge sampling of paint chips.  Hubby and I sat down about 3 weeks later and picked colors for him to paint.   I thought it would be a waste to throw all of those paint chips away.  I figured I could do something creative with them later.  Months later we found the perfect fabric for the bedding and window treatments  (see I'm Sewing  for fabric information).  With the travel theme chosen, I knew the perfect quote for his room.  I was going to do vinyl but then I thought about the paint chips and

Shop with Me - 2: 6 Weeks After Baby

Check me out 6 weeks after Baby Z.  I'm back in my pre-pregnancy jeans.  I was very excited because this happened without exercise.  Now, the hard work has to begin - squat challenge, ab challenge, and 5k training program are in full effect. Maybe I'll post this same outfit again after I have toned up and lost a few more pounds. Anyway, h ere's what I'm wearing: Shirt - $2 Rue 21  clearance ( similar ) Jeans - Gift Old Navy Belt - Hubby's Shoes - Gift from Hubby (He picked them all by himself.) Jewelry - Gift & $3  Rue 21   Bangles I was so comfortable and happy to see my feet.  I love my shoes and I missed seeing them on my feet.  The pop of turquoise kept this out fit from being too blah.  What do you think?

Shop with Me - 1: Purple Rain

I am so excited to share one of my new shopping finds with you. So, my BFF and I decided to stop in Macy's to look around.  I have been holding a birthday gift card for 4 months.  It was burning a hole in my pocket (book).  Awww, that was kind of lame but hey I have the right to slip some corny jokes sometimes.  My BFF and I love the challenge of shopping.  We generally try to not spend more than $20 on one item unless it is an absolute steal and it really speaks to us.  We searched the sales and clearance racks.   I found two things: a fuschia shift dress and a knit purple pencil skirt. I spent at $24 on the two items.  Cha Ching!  That's my kind of shopping.  I didn't try anything on in the store (thanks baby Z).  I was hurt when the shift dress didn't fit my voluptuous bottom. I took it back.  The pencil skirt fit wonderfully. Here I am wearing the skirt - Sunday's Best.  Purple Skirt - $6 Macy's I paired the skirt with a geometric print tank

Congratulations Are In Order, Part 1: DIY Wedding Gift

This past weekend my big little guy was in a wedding. I love weddings so I was very excited. The four of us (and all the bags) piled in the Tahoe for the road trip. It was quite the adventure, but it was worth every minute. Back to what you came here for the DIY project. One night while searching Pinterest, I found this really cool print: Bourbon & Boots - $109 I thought it would be a great gift for a couple.  I even thought it would be for my bedroom (I'm seriously considering making one for us).  So, when I was thinking of the perfect gift for this wedding, my mind immediately went back to this idea. I thought about how I could make this idea my own.  I came up with this: My Version I took this before I decided to add the year they were married to the center top. Here's what I used: Frame & Mat:  I was prepared to make my own mat, but I found a frame that included the perfect mat  for 3 5" by 7" prints at Ross. Map: You can bu
